A brief intervention on Mexico: regimes, power alternation, transitions, and erosion of democracy. Tiziana Bertaccini, an expert on Mexico where she lived for some years, talks about the transformations of Mexico in the last decades, the past and current leadership, in a context of economic difficulties, violence, drug trafficking, and limitation of human rights.

Tiziana Bertaccini narrates from a historiographical perspective the period from the democratic transitions in Latin America, that is, from the 1980s to the present.
In the book she co-authored with Carlos Illades, "Unfinished Transitions and New Authoritarianisms in Latin America", she questions the current crisis of democracy in this region, where new forms of authoritarianism have re-emerged, or perhaps never disappeared, appearing in different guises from both the right and the left.
